Structure and Coordination of GBIF-D
Eight nodes form GBIF-Germany, seven of them responsible for a range of taxonomic groups. The nodes's main task is to collect existing biodiversity information scattered in databases all over Germany, to digitalize and combine it virtually to allow free and open access for everyone according to GBI's the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU [4]).
The German governing board consists of the eight node coordinators, the speaker of the node coordinator's group, and the speaker of the GBIF-D IT Commission.
