Description
Recently, a German GBIF node for palaeontological collection data is being established at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin, containing data on all paleontologically relevant groups of organisms (microfossils, plants, invertebrates, vertebrates). The German node is the foundation for the planned international GBIF-Palaeontology network.
We aim for the numerous participation of collections from univiersities and natural history museums. German colletions alone contain about 15 million paleontlogical objects of research, which are planned to be made accessible for public and science by the GBIF-D project.
Paleontological collection data of the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin is already accessible and may be queried [4].
Grant Number
GBIF-D is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, BMBF (grant 01 LI 1001D).
